The Herb Lounge

Only the best is good enough for your cat, which is why we offer the highest quality herbs available today through our own brand, NipNaps. Our NipNaps herbs are partially incorporated into some of our toys, such as kicking pads, but you can also find them in small, airtight jars.

We use glass jars to preserve the fragrance and prevent the herbs from mingling with the odors of the plastic packaging typically found in stores. Furthermore, the jars are easy to seal.

NipNaps strives to keep its herbs 99.9% pure so your cat can enjoy them safely and, above all, healthily. NipNaps catnip contains no chemicals or sprays, and only dried chicken manure is used in season to increase soil bioactivity.

Why give herbs to my cat?

Herbs are a great treat to use in training, or to encourage your cat to use a scratching post or sleep in its own nest. It's also a good way to encourage your cat to exercise and can even help it relax. Whatever the reason, it's a valuable addition to your cat's well-being.

How long can I store NipNaps herbs?

Thanks to the airtight glass jars, NipNaps herbs retain their fragrance for much longer. When stored in a cool place (yes, even in the refrigerator), NipNaps herbs can last for over 12 months.

Toys containing herbs are best stored dry (!) in a bag or lunch box. Add a scoop of our NipNaps herbs to the bag to keep the toy's scent fresh for longer.

What is Catnip?

Catnip is a remnant of the mint family. It originated in North Africa and the Mediterranean region, but now grows widely throughout Europe and North America. The plant's nicknames, catnip or catmint, are undoubtedly inspired by the fact that cats are quite fond of these plants.

The catnip was harvested during the peak of the season and carefully processed fresh to ensure proper drying for ultimate potency.

What is valerian?

What is valerian and is it safe for my cat? While the human response is one of sedation and relaxation, cats are calmed by the scent of valerian. To humans, valerian has an unusual odor similar to sweaty socks. Cats have been naturally attracted to valerian for centuries. Clinical studies have shown that cats who consumed 10 mg/kg of a valerian extract experienced a significant decrease in restlessness, anxiety, and aggressive behavior. Valerian as a scent stimulation is recommended by the Feline Advisory Bureau.

What is matatabi?

The matatabi tree is related to the kiwi tree and grows in Asia, primarily in China and Japan. Silvervine has a very special effect on cats. It contains a substance that cats enjoy, which helps them relax. Matatabi contains actinicin and matatabi lactone. These are alkaloids that influence nerve stimulation in the brain. We often find that naturally relaxed cats are less interested in the herb than cats that are tense. Many cats roll and rub when they come into contact with the herb. After playing, the cat is calmer, its pupil constricts, and it often grooms and sleeps.

What is tiger mix?

NipNaps "Tiger Mix" is a very finely ground blend of matatabi sprigs, ground and roughly chopped catnip, and dried valerian root. All in the right dosage to ensure every house tiger can find something to their liking.
