All natural by-products such as pheasant and goose feathers used to make Tabby Tiger toys are originally from Europe and the United States and are 95% handmade from A to Z in our Tabby Tiger Studio in Antwerp.
All products are then personally tested by us against strict criteria before being offered for sale. We do this because we believe that safe and high-quality products should take precedence over cheap and unsafe toys from Asia or other countries where animals are abused for their feathers or fur.
We commit to the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats . That's our guarantee!
AS FEW COLORED FEATHERS AS POSSIBLE FOR THE TABBY TIGER TOYS
Only in the Standard Bird Deluxe do we use marabou feathers and plant-based dyes – without heavy metals and other toxic ingredients that are unfortunately often found in most toys. Using plant-based dyes does make the coloring process much more difficult. The result also depends on the biological structure of the feathers, which can vary depending on the condition of the birds when we collect their feathers, the time of year, their diet, and so on. That's why, in 99% of cases, you'll usually find the natural colors in our toys.

For the well-being of your cats and animals in general, it's important to be aware that in 90% of cases, other brands offer "Blood Feather" refills that are manufactured or obtained in an animal-unfriendly way. This completely violates our principles! Worse still, you often buy them on the street corner at so-called (animal-)friendly pet shops.
The Tabby Tijger "Cruelty-free" pheasant and goose feathers, on the other hand, are collected during the molting season in the countryside of North Brabant (NL). Therefore, all the toys in our range are unique and often one-of-a-kind. Our quality model ensures that we thoroughly assess each supplier annually according to the Tabby Tijger manifesto.
Moreover, we're not the only ones who share this view. More and more people are carefully considering what they offer their cat:
“Cruelty-free feathers are much better quality. Commercial craft feathers are sold by the ounce because that's a faster way to sort them, rather than examine and count each feather separately. But if you look at those bags of feathers, they are often of rather poor quality, very uneven in size, sometimes even broken, and are usually “blood feathers,” which means they were not fully-formed on the quill end and pulled from a dead carcass, probably by a machine. Cruelty-free feathers, on the other hand, are fully-formed, naturally-shed, and hand sorted. They are usually sold by “count” rather than “bulk” and yes, they cost a lot more per feather
